Home Show

100_3715 Saturday was indeed a great day for the Northfield Home show. The weather was perfect and people enjoyed getting out and visiting the show. Groups of people started out right at the 9:30 opening and kept up very steady until early afternoon. I staffed our booth all day, showing people photos of some of our completed work. Attendees liked the video power point of building a home in an existing neighborhood.

100_3717 Lots of area businesses were represented at the show. I chatted with Glen Switzer with Switzer’s Nursery. He brought a very nice wooden trellis to show people what they can use in their garden. Gardening is one thing that people seem very interested this year.

Jeff Johnson and the crew from KYMN radio were there all morning. They were100_3712 broadcasting live from the show, talking with both exhibitors and attendees. It is nice that KYMN does this as it reminds people about the show and lets them know about some of the exhibits.

100_3713 D & S Cement had some interesting concrete forms at their booth. The forms allow them to insert Styrofoam insulation into the center of a concrete wall. This is typically used in an application for a residential foundation wall. By having the insulation inside the wall it is protected from any physical damage. It creates a very warm wall and eliminates some of the detailing problems that surface when insulation is placed on the exterior of a wall.

100_3716 Peter and Mary Schmelzer with Vivus Architecture were also exhibiting their work at the show. They had some beautiful photographs of various completed residential projects. We worked with Vivus on a new home a couple of years ago and have completed several remodeling projects with them.

If you missed the show this year, we hope to see you there next year.
