We’ve had to wait a bit for custom built cabinets on our East side Craftsman remodeling project, but they arrived yesterday. Installers were busy at work setting the cabinets in place. The kitchen in this home is not large so it makes a lot of sense to use custom designed and fabricated cabinets as that makes every inch of space useable. The cabinet makers have done a good job constructing these cabinets. Once they are set in place careful measurements will be taken for the soapstone countertops to be installed.
We installed an oak floor in the kitchen. One of the issues with adding flooring like this is how to handle the transition between this new floor and the existing floor in the dining room. In this instance a very nice cross grain decorative design was used in the cased opening connecting the rooms. Dark bands of walnut were used along with the red oak flooring.
The cement plaster stucco finish has been applied to the exterior of the home. This
home has been painted several times, so the stucco will have a paint finish to match the existing stucco color. We generally do not like to paint cement stucco as the material works well with a cement or acrylic finish, but in this instance it made sense to match surfaces with paint.
