Habitat for Humanity

100_2619 Yesterday Northfield Construction Company employees had a chance to provide some support to the community. We met after our normal workday at a new Habitat for Humanity house under construction and installed the roof system.

The house, for the Rosas family, is located in Dundas.100_2621 Like many of the local Habitat homes, this one has exterior walls constructed from insulated concrete. Other workers and volunteers had completed the exterior walls and the floor of the house. We were asked to properly install the roof trusses. Bill, Brent, Steve, Tristan and I showed up with a rough terrain forklift. In a few hours the trusses were set and fastened in place, ready for the roof decking.

In speaking with Lee, the coordinator of the house, I did get a good understanding for the work involved in overseeing many volunteers on such a project. The end result will be a lovely new home for an area family.
