Wall Framing

100_1240 We have enjoyed mild winter weather the past few days as we work at framing the rural house we are constructing south of Northfield. The carpenters have been busy getting the exterior walls erected. With the exterior walls up today they moved on to the interior walls.

Like most of our ‘stick framed’ homes, we are using a house wrap product over the exterior wall sheathing. This greatly reduces air infiltration into the walls while allowing any internal moisture to migrate through the material.

100_1241 We had such good luck with the weather we decided to pour the rear concrete patio this morning. We kept the ground covered with frost blankets to keep the soils from freezing. The blankets did their job perfectly…when we pulled them off this morning100_1217 there wasn’t a trace of frost in the ground. We did the same thing to the garage slab last week just before Thanksgiving, covering the fresh concrete with the blankets to cure it.
