This ‘outdoor room’ addition was constructed on a home Northfield Construction originally built in 2001. At the time we built the home the owners debated with their architect about the type and size of the deck for the home. In the end they decided to wait on deck construction and live in the home and see what needs developed.
The result was this lovely room addition designed for entertaining. The same architect, Gary Hanson with Prairie Creek Architects, designed both the home and the addition. We matched exterior stucco finishes and included a cedar deck with a gas barbecue, The room includes fir beaded ceiling boards, painted trimwork, and a gas fireplace. A hospitality area, complete with sink, dishwasher, beverage cooler and microwave oven, is located at one end of the room. The doors in this room addition feature nine-light Prairie style muntins.
This room has spectacular views of the prairie countryside. Steps lead down from the deck to a yard area landscaped with a fire pit and local boulders.
